BPL in Pics, sponsored by Microsoft Video Highlights Alex Ferguson - My Autobiography Gerrard Chasing pack hit by Euro hangover 22 September 2014, 15:44 While the curse of "the ex" accounted for Chelsea's perfect start to the Premier League season, it was something more mundane, in the shape of a European hangover, that upset most of the chasing pack. Of the six English teams that took part in Champions League and Europa League fixtures in midweek, only Arsenal, beaten 2-0 at Borussia Dortmund last Tuesday, claimed a league victory when they returned to domestic action at the weekend. Arsene Wenger's team, bristling at criticism of their limp surrender in Germany, hit back with the same elan that Frank Lampard demonstrated in his goal-scoring cameo for Manchester City. The midfielder came on as a late substitute in the champions' 1-1 draw with Chelse...

A month ago, after opening Premier League wins against West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers, Spurs were sitting top of the table. Now, following home defeats to Liverpool and West Brom and a draw at Sunderland, they are ninth. Next up on Wednesday is a tricky League Cup match against Championship (second tier) leaders Nottingham Forest, while next Saturday Spurs make the short trip to Arsenal where they have won just once in the last 21 years. Pochettino arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer on a high after guiding Sou...

BPL in Pics, sponsored by Microsoft Video Highlights Alex Ferguson - My Autobiography Gerrard Police investigate Balotelli Twitter racist abuse 21 September 2014, 22:11 Mario Balotelli found himself on the receiving end of yet more racist abuse on Sunday after a jokey reference to Manchester United's shock defeat by Leicester sparked a flurry of invective on social media. Police later confirmed they were looking into the abuse that had come the Liverpool striker's way, with a Merseyside Police statement saying: "We can confirm officers are looking into offensive comments made on Twitter about Mario Balotelli earlier today (Sunday)." Asked if they were investigating formally, a force spokesman replied "yes, we are", adding: "As far as I am aware there have been no complaints but we have been made aware of it by a number of press enquirie...

BPL in Pics, sponsored by Microsoft Video Highlights Alex Ferguson - My Autobiography Gerrard Lampard turns on Chelsea, United beaten 21 September 2014, 20:45 Emotional Frank Lampard rescued a point for champions Manchester City against former club Chelsea on Sunday while Manchester United gave up a 3-1 lead to slump to a shock 5-3 defeat at Leicester. Lampard's equaliser ensured a 1-1 draw against the Premier League leaders who lost their perfect start to the league season but still moved three points clear of second-placed Southampton. It seemed Jose Mourinho's side were set for a fifth straight league win when Andre Schurrle put them ahead in the 71st minute, shortly after City had been reduced to 10 men by the sending off of defender Pablo Zabaleta. But former Chelsea star Lampard, only playing for City after being loaned to them by New York City, the clu...
